The act of picking fruit is very familiar and associated with the history of hunting, catching, gathering, and gathering of humans, so they have come up with many types of tools for this job. The practice of wrapping fruit in bags before harvest has only been applied recently, so it is still very new and rudimentary. These tools only perform each function individually. Therefore, the author has inherited and proposed a tool that has two functions at the same time: wrapping bags and picking fruit at high altitude. This article presents the structure, operating principles, and instructions for using this tool. This tool is compact, inexpensive, and easy to use. It consists of a long handle, a set of clamps that close and open, and a control cable connecting from the top to the middle of the handle. Farmers just need to stand on the ground, put the clamps over the fruit, and pull the control cable to make the clamps close or open. From there, they can wrap bag or pick fruits from high above easily. This research will help farmers have a tool that has two functions, which certainly has many advantages and is useful for farmers. This article presents the history of Caritas Phu Cuong as a charity and social organization that plays an important role in helping the poor and disabled people of Binh Dương province. In addition, the article will also analyze the role and contributions of Caritas Phu Cuong in the field of charity for Binh Duong province in the following aspects: medical examination and medicine distribution for the poor people; life protection program; taking care of lonely elderly people; support people with disabilities to integrate into the community; build a library of books and toys for children; organize compassion classes for children of workers in difficult circumstances; bright path scholarship (Slovakia); environmental protection and human trafficking prevention programs. Finally, the article will discuss the role, functions and scope of activities of Caritas Phu Cuong in different historical periods to adapt to the changes in the socio-political context of Vietnam.
The patriotic activities of teachers, students, and pupils in the temporarily occupied regions of Long An – Kien Tuong were a particularly important part of the open political struggle on enemy territory during the resistance against the United States. Immediately after the 1954 Geneva Agreement, many schools in Long An – Kien Tuong established revolutionary bases. Some teachers mobilized colleagues, students, and the public to fight against anti-communist activities, forced conscription, and to demand civil rights and democracy. In subsequent years, Long An – Kien Tuong became the site of numerous diverse and creative struggles (rallies, demonstrations, leafleting, journalism, cultural activities...), attracting the participation of many educators and students. Some teachers and students actively participated in armed and covert operations, displaying many heroic acts of combat and sacrifice. Alongside activities in liberated areas, the struggle of teachers and students in the temporarily occupied regions of Long An – Kien Tuong contributed distinctive values, enhancing the illustrious history and tradition of Long An province's education sector today.
Culture plays an important role in shaping the perceptions, beliefs, and experiences of refugees as they navigate decisions and actions in a new society. Based on an analysis of 88 oral history interviews conducted by the Vietnamese American Heritage Foundation (VAHF) with Vietnamese refugees in the US after the war, this paper examines the relationship between culture and social integration, particularly the cultural values that Vietnamese refugees have chosen and promoted to help them adapt quickly and successfully in the new society. Using a thematic analysis method, cultural values such as self-effort, a studious tradition, sacrifice, and intergenerational responsibility help Vietnamese refugees improve their socio-economic status after a period of settlement in the U.S. The stories specifically illustrate how Vietnamese people have applied cultural values to social integration strategies, establishing connections between culture and economic opportunities within the socio-economic conditions of the United States.
The relationship between language and gender is an interesting topic which has been under discussion over the last few centuries. Throughout the history of language study, lots of studies have been conducted and different linguists have been looking at this issue from different angles. As a socially constructed notion of what is feminine and what is masculine, gender is considered to be closely interrelated to different aspects of our life, especially to our language. From interdisciplinary perspectives with the corpus being the language used in daily communication, the study pointed out various differences between genders both in language use and in aspects of the language used to talk about each gender. From these differences, the study can help us understand a great deal of American culture which, in turns, makes it easy for us to use the language effectively.
Binh Duong is a province in the Southeast region. It has a long history of growth and numerous noteworthy historical and cultural values. This paper provides a summary of the cultural and historical significance of Binh Duong Province during the prehistoric, land exploration, and settlement phases. It discusses population, administrative structure, social structure, economic traits (agriculture, handicrafts, commerce), and social culture throughout the various eras (prehistory, settlement phase, Nguyen dynasty). The findings demonstrate that Binh Duong not only has a rich history with numerous economic and cultural assets, but also point to possible research avenues for safeguarding and advancing moral principles in the construction and development of Binh Duong province today and in the future.
This report presents the process of conserving, restoring scientific works, as well as ensuring the method and principle of conservation. Besides, because there are many reasons, the restoration of the relic is not currently carried out in accordance with the current regulations and there are some mistakes in the conservation and restoration of the relic. Therefore, understanding the restoration process is the core scientific basis for proposing effective conservation projects and solutions. Moreover, the content of report provides more the materials, and scientific foundations for conservation and restoration of the relic as follows: - Understand the valuable aspects of the Ngo Mon relic; - Help conservationists grasp some methods to identify the relic including analysing history, and construction schedule of the work; analysing actual state (architecture, materials, fine arts...); analysing documentary photos; analysing similar works. - Support people who work in management, project planning, construction of the relics grasp the order, process, regime, and policy of the State when implementing a project to conserve and restore more professionalism.
For more than a hundred years, the people of Kien Giang have maintained the celebration of Nguyen Trung Truc’s death anniversary in order to pay tribute to this “Born as a general, die as a god”. According to the movement and development of history, the death anniversary of Nguyen Trung Truc must also have certain changes, to match the content anh nature of the historical – cultural time. This is an important issue, helping to better identify the regular adaptations and changes of national cultural values. However, to date this issue has not been studied. The purpose of the article is to analyze and clarify the process of organizing the death anniversary celebration and its changes, contributing to explaining the adaptation and regular change of cultural values.
Oral history is both a method of gathering information and an important source of historical data in social history and public history. The narratives of individuals are not only exploited to find historical facts or “additional” details to a grand narrative but uncover the meaning of individuals’ stories for a broader social context. That shift has made oral history increasingly an interdisciplinary research method. However, compared with the popularity of oral history in international academic disciplines, the application of this research method restricts in Vietnam. This article presents the possibilities and prospects of oral history through different research topics/fields in history, at the same time, specify the causes of obstacles to the legitimization of oral history in Vietnam.
Cho Lon was a former province in southern Vietnam, now part of Ho Chi Minh City and Long An Province. During the Vietnam War from 1945 to 1954, Cho Lon province exemplified the practice of an all-people, all-out war across military, political, economic, and cultural fields. Using the method of writing history through oral narratives, this paper presents the process of organizing and developing general education in Cho Lon province in conjunction with the resistance movement led by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The results show that the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in Cho Lon province organized and developed general education throughout the resistance, even during the most intense periods of the war. The development of general education in Cho Lon province became an integral part of the resistance, contributing to its momentum and strength, and helping to achieve victory in the fight against French colonial invasion. The educational development in Cho Lon province from 1945 to 1954 provides valuable lessons for building an educational system during wartime.
The Southeast region, in prehistory and protohistory, established the space of Dong Nai archeological culture. Since the 16th to 17th centuries, the Southeast had been discovered by the Vietnamese people, in which they established sovereignty and administrative structure. Over three centuries of formation and development, the Southeast region has created many changes in geographic names and administrative structures as required by the historical context of each period. This article presents the overview of the administrative restructuring process in the Southeast region in some important historical milestones during the development process hereof. With the presentation of administrative structures in the Southeast region, the article contributes to systemizing the historical periods of formation and development of the region. It also opens further dialogues for the study of historical and cultural characteristics of the Southeast region.
In Kien Giang, along with religion, belief is an indispensable need in the spiritual life of a part of the people. The most prominent is the worship of Nguyen Trung Truc (NTT) - a bright star in the southern land - a national hero against the French in the second half of the 19th century. Every year, from 26-28 (lunar year), people from all over the world gather in Rach Gia - where the temple worships NTT - to light incense to show gratitude on the occasion of the NTT festival. Besides the great feats recorded in history books, the people have created many legends about this hero. In the series of legends about NTT, the magical element associated with the motifs of “miracle birth”, “marvelous feat”, “incarnation” appear many times. They play a particularly valuable role to contribute NTT as an immortal god in the hearts of Kien Giang people.
This paper explores the pros and cons of using online setting for teaching and learning English comparing with in-class setting. Online setting is undergoing a fast transformation and becomes a widely promoted platform due to COVID-19 pandemic. By reviewing different studies on online teaching, this paper aims to provide readers a better understanding about online setting. These information would be useful in Vietnam where online class just has a medium used and short history comparing with other developed and developing countries, so online class in Vietnam may need adjust and consideration based on different culture and learner’s experience. This paper also give some suggestions in design of online learning for English languages to increase the learning effectiveness.
In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, the intelligentsia of the colonial countries and ones being threatened by Western colonial dominance in Asia began to re-perceive the problems of sovereignty, nation-state, and re-ask questions like "What is history for?" as well as review what previous historians wrote about their national history. From re-realizing history and rewriting history according to new perspectives, historiography in these countries has shifted from "traditional" to "modern" with taking Western science as the main direction. Vietnamese historiography is also not out of that general change. Examining the product of historical books at the beginning of the twentieth century, Phan Boi Chau is considered as the pioneer historian for that historiographical turn. The article focuses on analyzing the new historical viewpoints of Phan Boi Chau from the global perspective of the flow of thought in Asian countries at that time.

On the basis of coordinating the sources of history materials from Vietnam and China, together with the latest archaeological achievements of Ho citadel, the article has delineated territory, confirmed the chronology frame with the Kings of this kingdom in relation to post-Champa Empire. It is from the aftermath of Vijaya, the two parts of Aryaru (Phu Yen) and Kauthara (Khanh Hoa) belong to Hoa Anh Kingdom, in which, Le Thanh Tong is crowned as Ban La Tra Duyet; the rebellion of this King is the cause for the second conquest, formally taking Ling Chan/ Da Bia as the landmark; Trai A Ma Phat Am is designated as Hoa Anh’s King on the remaining land of Kauthara, but immediately incorporated into Panduranga, forming the state of post-Champa.
